YOUTH LEARNING INITIATIVE

Providing FREE Online Summer Classes
to Close the Achievement Gap

ABOUT

Youth Learning Initiative (YLI), founded by college students, has set out to provide FREE online summer classes to provide opportunities for elementary school children to strengthen and reinforce their learning. Our mission is to close the achievement gap and offer opportunities to children in need during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

According to research, COVID-19 pandemic has impacted underserved families. Job losses have led to struggles with housing, food, and medical care. Those still employed face the challenge of finding child care for children learning online. Additionally, in normal circumstances, summer vacation is one of the major causes of the achievement gap in the United States. Children from under-resourced communities fall behind their peers by months each summer. This is due to the lack of opportunities available to strengthen and reinforce learning. We want to help change this.
